One-Minute Astronomer: Tips, Tales, and Tours for the Casual Stargazer
by Brian Ventrudo, Publisher, One-Minute Astronomer
Here’s a little fun for a cloudy night… a new guidebook entitled One-Minute Astronomer: Tips, Tales, and Tours for the Casual Stargazer. It’s a collection of 111 of the best articles published on One-Minute Astronomer during its first three years, from early 2008 through early 2011. Each of these articles takes just a minute or two to read, and will help you cultivate your interest in the night sky, whether you’re an armchair astronomer or experienced stargazer.
The book, which is available from Stargazer University, is organized into three sections…
- Tips to give you advice on how to select and use optical equipment for seeing the night sky, and how to make sure you get the most out of your optics, whether you have binoculars or a big scope. The first two articles alone may double the amount of detail you can see in the night sky.
- Tales to introduce you to a number of remarkable astronomers who changed the course of science with their astonishing discoveries, some of which were made against formidable odds, and…
- Tours to take you through some of the best sights to see in the night sky from the north and south hemisphere
You can read each article in any order you like, whenever you like, on your computer, laptop, or tablet. Most articles just take a minute or two to read, though they will (hopefully) make you think and wonder for long after about the grand sights you can see in the night sky from just outside your door.
All articles in this book have been updated and edited. And the tours have new illustrations and star maps to help you find dozens of grand sights in the night sky, in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
One more thing… by purchasing this book, you get a chance to support One-Minute Astronomer. We don’t take donations, but buying this book is a great way for you to keep this website alive and well.
To make this available to as many readers as possible, the price is far lower than other courses offered at SU. It’s only $19, less than the cost of a pizza and two cans of Coke. And like all Stargazer University products, it’s backed by a full guarantee. If you don’t like it, just send an email and you’ll get your money back right away.
